A WWE Hall of Famer believes Drew McIntyre should leave his current employers and join All Elite Wrestling if WWE don't have any plans for him.

McIntyre's future with WWE is currently uncertain following reports that he and WWE are far apart on money over a contract extension and McIntyre was unhappy with the company's creative plans for him. The two-time WWE Champion's contract is believed to expire in early 2024 and the latest rumours noted McIntyre is open to exploring his options if he fails to come to terms with the company. He has also reportedly been frustrated with WWE in recent years.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's Wrestling Time Machine, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long tipped McIntyre to join All Elite Wrestling, while also stating that he thinks Drew's time at the top of the card in WWE is over.

"My opinion on it, I don't think he's going to go back to that title spot no more. You know what I mean? They did a lot with Drew McIntyre. He's been fantastic for them. Even myself had a chance to work with him too in storylines you know when he was Vince's 'Chosen One' or something, I think that's what it was. If AEW wants to take him, I think he should go, you know, that's a fresh start there. So maybe he's got a two or three-year run right there. I don't know, that decision will be left to him but I mean what he can do is maybe talk and find out if there are any plans for him. If there's some plans for him down the line then hang around and wait until it's time. But if they don't have nothing for you, there are no plans, then the writing's on the wall," Long said.

McIntyre is currently off WWE TV, having been banged up since before WrestleMania 39. The 37-year-old was recently pulled from advertising for WWE's next UK pay-per-view, Money in the Bank, leaving his status for the show up in the air.
