Professional wrestling, it can be a beautiful thing sometimes.

Sovereign Pro Wrestling (SOVPRO) held their latest event at the Trinity Sports Centre in Manchester, England on Sunday, February 18 with 'It's Dark and Hell is Hot.' Much had been announced for the show but nothing was more hotly anticipated than the pro wrestling debut of Les Battersby from Coronation Street (real name Bruce Jones).

The Coronation Street star made his way to the ring to Status Quo's 'Rockin' All Over The World' as the crowd went wild, serenading him with "Les" chants when Battersby did eventually enter the squared circle. Battersby even formed his own faction, heading to the ring in a Les Battersby World Order shirt while also wearing double denim, reminiscent of the nWo, and he was soon joined by other members of the stable.

An interruption from The Wright Way soon followed, a faction dedicated to former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, but the LBWO ended up standing tall after working together to take out Thatcher Wright and Charles Douglas. Battersby even drew some inspiration from the Von Erichs as he laid out Thatcher Wright with the Iron Claw.

If Battersby will make future pro wrestling appearances is unknown but he previously challenged Ken Barlow to a bout inside the squared circle. Bruce Jones portrayed Les Battersby on Coronation Street between 1997 and 2008, becoming one of the soap opera's iconic characters.

Another British icon in Mr Blobby has sporadically had pro wrestling matches in recent years, last appearing for Riot Cabaret in December.
