Britt Baker Wins AEW Women's Title From Hikaru Shida At AEW Double Or Nothing

Britt Baker has become the new AEW Women's champion, after defeating Hikaru Shida at AEW's Double or Nothing pay-per-view on Sunday night in Jacksonville.

Baker won the match via submission with her Lockjaw hold following several near-falls, as well as late match interference from Rebel. Baker kicked out of the Falcon Arrow, as well as Shida's Tamashii charging knee, in those final moments.

Shida's reign comes to an end after 372 days. She had reigned as Women's champion since last year's Double or Nothing, when she defeated Nyla Rose in a no-disqualification match. Shida made eight successful defenses during the course of her reign, defeating the likes of Rose, Tay Conti, Ryo Mizunami, Thunder Rosa, and others.

Baker becomes the fourth Women's champion in the championship's history, following Riho, Rose, and Shida. The match marked her third time overall challenging for the AEW Women's title, and first shot at the belt in over a year.

Baker's win marks only the second overall title change in AEW in 2021, following Miro's win over TNT champion Darby Allin earlier in May.
