Former Ring of Honor star BJ Whitmer has been indicted on first-degree strangulation and second-degree burglary charges, both of which are class-C felonies. Each charge carries a penalty of 5-10 years in prison.

Whitmer was working as a producer for AEW when he was arrested for domestic violence in Boone County, Kentucky on June 4. According to police reports, Whitmer entered the victim's house and waited for her to come home, before throwing her onto a couch and choking her.

The victim later told Fox 19 Cincinnati that she was "literally fighting for her life" during the attack.

Whitmer was subsequently let go by Tony Khan's promotion, having worked for them in a backstage capacity since 2019. According to a report, Whitmer had heat in AEW due to how he produced a match shortly before his arrest.

Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp wrote that the 45-year-old had a hearing on September 6, where he was indicted. Sapp added that a pretrial hearing is set for October 4.

Furthermore, an emergency protection order (EPO) is in place with the victim, who AEW has continued to work with.
