For much of the year, AJ Styles was the target of a lot of low blows as he tried to keep his record-breaking WWE Championship reign intact on SmackDown Live. After a little while, with the low blows flowing, fans started to wonder why Styles didn't start to wear a cup...

Well, during a recent interview with

WretleZone

, our prayers have been answered as AJ answered the question that has been on the minds of many fans for a large chunk of the year.

“You know, even when I played baseball when I was younger, I didn’t like wearing a cup because it got in the way," Styles said.

"It just was in the way. If I wore one now, and I did a splash and missed, how would that feel? I don’t need to have any more kids anyway.”

So there we have it, folks. While a cup would have prevented The Phenomenal One's Phenomenal schlong from being a target for the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura and Daniel Bryan, it's actually down to issues surrounding comfort that put the former champ off the idea of using one.
