Third time lucky...

In early August, it emerged that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Dany Garcia and RedBird Capital had formed a consortium to purchase the XFL for $15 million. The league filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after the 2020 season was cancelled because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the consortium bought Vince McMahon's former project only days before it was set to be auctioned off.
Many wondered if the league would make a comeback and The Brahma Bull announced earlier today the XFL will be returning in 2022.
He tweeted: "XFL returns SPRING 2022. As owners, we're proud to champion our XFL players, coaches, cities and fans into an electrifying 2022 season! It's an uphill battle - but we're hungry, humble and no one will outwork us. A league of culture, passion & purpose. #XFL #Spring2022."
Elements of the 2020 league will seemingly be carried over into the 2022 season, including the XFL's catchphrase, "For The Love Of Football."
Many questions remain about the revived XFL, however, particularly around its TV deals. The league's current TV contracts were transferred as part of the purchase, but ESPN and FOX were reportedly looking to renegotiate their deals as Alpha Entertainment would no longer be involved.
