Dean Ambrose

Earlier today, it was reported by

PWTorch

.com that Dean Ambrose had turned down an improved offer from WWE and would not be renewing his current contract which runs out at the end of April.

WWE have

confirmed

this story tonight - Dean Ambrose will be leaving WWE at the end of April.

Here's the statement (via

Sean Ross Sapp

) the company released a short while ago: "Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April. We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans. We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.”

At the time of writing, we're still not sure what has made Ambrose come to this decision. That same article from PWTorch claimed that the direction of his character since returning from injury halfway through last year played a major role.

“One of his colleagues on the roster, when asked tonight about Dean’s demeanor lately and if there were any signs of discontent, said “he’s pretty much impossible to read.” He added, though, that Dean “hates hokey sh–” and, since so much of his character has been portrayed as hokey in the last few years, he’s not surprised that would have built up frustration leading to a breaking point,” Wade Keller wrote.

PWTorch also claimed that Dean had a face-to-face meeting with Vince McMahon, who was clearly unable to change his former world champion's mind.

It must be noted that this is an unprecedented move by WWE to announce that one of their performers is leaving a couple of months before their deal ends. Last night on Raw, Ambrose was just about to 'pour his heart out' to the watching Universe before he was interrupted by Nia Jax.

Could that small hint and this unprecedented move from the company mean this is all part of an upcoming storyline?
