Wheeler Yuta Wins ROH Pure Title At Supercard Of Honor 2022
Wheeler Yuta wins his first piece of ROH gold after defeating Josh Woods
Apr 2, 2022
Wheeler Yuta is your new Ring of Honor Pure Champion after defeating Josh Woods at Supercard of Honor 2022.
Yuta looked outmatched at times during his bout with Josh Woods, with Woods forcing the young AEW star to use all three of his ropebreaks, before Yuta unleashed the trapping Danielson elbows and got the shock win out of nowhere. Woods was gracious in defeat, putting the title around the new champion before departing to the back.
With this win Yuta becomes the 10th wrestler to ever hold the Pure Title, and the third since the belt was re-introduced in 2020, following a 14-year absence.
This is Yuta’s first title in Ring of Honor, and stands as the biggest prize achieved so far in his young career. It remains to be seen if Yuta will remain solely in Ring of Honor, or if he will split his time between ROH and AEW, seeing as he recently left Best Friends to try and earn a place in William Regal’s Blackpool Combat Club.
