Following three losses at Wrestle Kingdom 15, The Empire got back on track at New Year Dash and defeated six-time IWGP Tag Team Champions TenCozy & Yota Tsuji in a six-man tag team match. Will Ospreay, Great-O-Khan and Jeff Cobb weren't satisfied after the bell, though, and continued to beat down their opponents.

During the attack, Great-O-Khan hit Hiroyoshi Tenzan with a TTD and the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion ended up leaving the ring on a stretcher.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has since released an update on Tenzan's condition and he isn't currently cleared for in-ring action. If Tenzan has a legitimate injury or is just taking some time off is currently unknown.

NJPW wrote: "On January 6’s New Year Dash event, Hiroyoshi Tenzan was stretchered away from the ring following an attack from Great-O-Khan. Tenzan was examined by doctors and treated for a neck injury. Tenzan’s injury is not thought to be serious, and he will make a full recovery.

"Tenzan will undergo another thorough evaluation before he is cleared for further action. We wish him the best in his recovery."
