Hideo Itami

Yesterday, it was revealed by Sean Ross Sapp of

Fightful

that Hideo Itami has asked for, and has been granted his release from WWE.

Itami wrestled his last match for the company on last night's 205 Live, losing via pinfall to Akira Tozawa two days after coming up short in the Cruiserweight Championship Fatal 4-Way match on the 2019 Royal Rumble Kickoff Show.

With many Superstars already reacting to Itami's imminent departure on social media, and with the man himself changing his name back to KENTA on Twitter, it appears it's only a matter of when and not if he's leaving WWE. That being said,

PWInsider

have been able to provide the latest update surrounding the former GHC Heavyweight Champion's status with WWE.

According to PWInsider, Itami has not been released from the company as of yet but will be let go soon. When he does leave, he'll be subject to the customary 90-day no compete clause, and then after that, he's expected to return to Japan.

Itami, of course, is one of two potential depatures from WWE with the company announcing yesterday that

Dean Ambrose will not be renewing his contract at the end of April
