An undisputed Cruiserweight champion has been crowned, following a ladder match to open NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver between formally-recognized champion Jordan Devlin and long-reigning interim champion Santos Escobar.

After nearly a year with two different titleholders, Escobar outlasted Devlin to unify the belts.

Late in the contest, Devlin was attacked by Legado del Fantasma members Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde, who knocked him off a ladder and to the floor. Escobar's subsequent climb was stopped by Devlin, who hit a Spanish Fly off the ladder. Devlin then tried climbing again, only to be stopped by Escobar, and was sent falling through another ladder. Escobar then pulled down the titles to win.

Devlin had been Cruiserweight champion since January 25, 2020, but had been unable to wrestle in the United States for a time, due to the COVID-related travel ban. He returned to action on the NXT UK brand in October, and finally wrestled stateside once more last month.

In the meantime, Escobar had won a round robin tournament to crown an interim champion on May 27 of last year, defeating Drake Maverick in the finals.
