In a shocking moment at Rampage Grand Slam, the Great Muta made his debut in All Elite Wrestling, making the save for Sting during his and Darby Allin's No DQ Match against Buddy Matthews and Brody King of House of Black. Muta hit Matthews with the green mist before Sting scored the win with the Scorpion Death Drop and the former rivals embraced in the centre of the ring as the fans inside Arthur Ashe Stadium cheered.

Speaking on My Mom's Basement, Tony Khan revealed that he actually wanted to bring the Great Muta in for All Out on September 4 but the legend was not available.

"Great Muta, we'd been talking about for a long time. It was funny because Mox brought it up in the press conference and we were already talking about it. I was like, they're with New Japan. So I was kinda like, 'I don't know if this is like the best time', and we were already working on it. But like, yeah, the timing was very good. I originally wanted to get Muta for All Out and he was not available. Then it just seemed like a good deal for Grand Slam," Khan stated.

Great Muta is currently on his retirement tour and he was in action over All Out weekend in Pro Wrestling NOAH. Muta teamed with Great-O-Khan and NOSAWA Rongai to defeat Kenoh, Manabu Soya, and Tadasuke on September 3.

At All Out, Sting teamed with Darby Allin and Miro to defeat Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, and Brody King.
