Tony Khan Provides Update On Paul Wight's AEW Status
The latest on Paul Wight in AEW from Tony Khan
Oct 4, 2022
Since signing with All Elite Wrestling last year, Paul Wight has only had four matches in the promotion due to injury, last competing in March of 2022. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion underwent double hip replacement surgery in late 2021 and he has only made sporadic appearances since then.
Speaking on My Mom's Basement, though, AEW President Tony Khan revealed he plans to use Wight more regularly as his health improves.
"Paul, seeing him up and around has been great. Paul Wight is such an awesome presence in pro wrestling and when he's healthy, and can be on the shows again, you know, I want to feature Paul. Unfortunately, a lot of his time in AEW has been hurt. He's great on commentary when he's been able to travel. I think that's something, he has a great future quite frankly. I think he's worked really, really hard at it and deserves opportunities there. So I have a lot of great things to say about Paul Wight," Khan said.
Alongside sporadic matches, Wight has done colour commentary for AEW Dark: Elevation with Tony Schiavone. He also works as a coach in the promotion.
