AEW All Out 2024 was a decidedly dark pay-per-view, with several matches featuring especially violent spots.

The Unsanctioned Lights Out Steel Cage Match main event between Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland featured multiple gruesome moments, while there were other intense matches and angles, such as Jon Moxley attempting to suffocate Bryan Danielson with a plastic bag.

Addressing the event's violent content during the post-show media scrum, AEW CEO Tony Khan said:

"I think it's something that the company has gotten better and better about. We have the smartest pro wrestlers, the smartest coaches, we've only added more great wrestlers, we've seen the roster get better and better, and in the backstage, more coaches and more great people. A lot of thought went into tonight's show and you saw, in my opinion, the best professional wrestlers in the world go out there, and you saw so many different things".

The brutal climax of the main event was reportedly done in such a manner as to write Strickland out of storylines for the time being, while MJF was also written off TV at the show.
