The Young Bucks' Twitter bio has often been used to poke fun at others in professional wrestling and NJPW are the latest entity to draw Matt and Nick Jackson's attention.

Following the announcement of Forbidden Door, a joint pay-per-view between All Elite Wrestling and New Japan, The Young Bucks took a shot at NJPW in their bio, noting they tried to establish a working relationship with the Japanese promotion after AEW was founded.

"Hey remember when we tried to get them on board day 1, but they waited til the dinner table was completely set first & also didn't give us a proper send off?" the former AEW World Tag Team Champions wrote.

During AEW's early days, The Young Bucks, Hangman Page, Kenny Omega, and Chris Harrington approached NJPW about forming a working relationship. Harold Meij was President of NJPW at the time, though, and he was seen as a major stumbling block to any deal being struck, with the Japanese promotion blowing off the idea of a partnership as they thought AEW would likely fail. Some offence was also reportedly taken as AEW President Tony Khan did not travel to Japan personally to conduct talks.

The Young Bucks were previously NJPW talents and the tag team, along with Kenny Omega and others, were originally scheduled to be on the promotion's New Year's Dash 2019 show following Wrestle Kingdom 13 but they were pulled from the event instead, meaning they quietly left the promotion after the Tokyo Dome show.

A working relationship between AEW and NJPW ultimately wouldn't be formed until early 2021, several months after Meij departed New Japan.

AEW and NJPW's joint pay-per-view, Forbidden Door, will take place on Sunday, June 26 at Chicago's United Center.
