Fans around the world were left baffled as Nia Jax won the opening match of Survivor Series 2018, with WWE flashing up a scoreboard reading 1-0 to the red brand. The shock came about as just before the main card got underway, The Usos brought home a win for SmackDown Live in the 10-on-10 tag team eliminator.

On the latest edition of

Wrestling Observer Radio

, Dave Meltzer was able to provide us with a reason as to why this happened. Essentially, Raw were supposed to win every single match that took place last night, only for whoever produced the tag eliminator to get mixed up and hand SmackDown the win.

Vince McMahon wanted the clean sweep for Raw, and that's why WWE pretended the pre-show match didn't happen. Meltzer doesn't know how it happened, but it did.

As for the match itself, it came down to The Usos going at it against The Revival after a Shatter Machine got rid of The New Day. After a bit of back and forth, an Uso Splash - complete with nod to Roman Reigns - brought it home for team blue.

It's going to be interesting to see where this storyline goes from here. All eyes were on Stephanie McMahon and Baron Corbin heading into the night, but with Raw winning everything (that counted) and the acting GM's team winning their respective survivor match, surely Steph can have no complaints. Surely Braun Strowman will be getting everything he wants now as well.

Tuesday's SmackDown certainly appears to be the more intriguing of the two weekly shows to tune into this week. Will Shane McMahon take the blame for everything that happened last night? Only time will tell...
