The IIconics Split Up On WWE Raw
After 5 years as a team...
Sep 1, 2020
On last night's edition of Monday Night Raw, the rivalry between The Riott Squad and The IIconics reached it's climax as the two teams faced off in a Number One Contender's match for the Women's Tag Team Championship. There was added stakes, however, as the losing team would be forced to disband. The two tag teams had exchanged wins over the past three months, but The Riott Squad had the upper hand heading into Raw after they emerged victorious at Payback.
Billie Kay and Peyton Royce almost picked up the win on numerous occasions, but Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan kept digging deep to kick out. The match then descended into chaos during the finish as Riott and Kay exchanged pinning combinations. Eventually, Ruby scooped up her opponent and pinned Billie's shoulders to the mat for the 1-2-3.
The former Women's Tag Team Champions were inconsolable after the match and they later had a tearful goodbye backstage. The team had been together since they both signed with WWE back in 2015.
Why WWE decided to split up The IIconics is currently unknown but previous reports have noted Vince McMahon sees Peyton Royce as a future singles star in the company.
