World Wonder Ring Stardom will have a presence on one of New Japan Pro-Wrestling's upcoming Tokyo Dome shows.

NJPW announced today that night two of Wrestle Kingdom 16 on January 5, 2022, will "see the best of Stardom compete in a special matchup." Who will be in action on January 5 was not revealed.

Stardom have held several special matches at NJPW's dome shows since New Japan's parent company Bushiroad bought Stardom in 2019. Mayu Iwatani and Arisa Hoshiki faced Giulia and the late Hana Kimura in an NJPW ring at Wrestle Kingdom 14. Three Stardom matches then took place at Wrestle Kingdom 15 and two bouts aired on the Wrestle Grand Slam in MetLife Dome pre-shows on September 4 and September 5, 2021.

New Japan have expanded Wrestle Kingdom 16 to three nights for the first time in the show's history. The January 4 show will be headlined by an IWGP World Heavyweight Title match between champion Shingo Takagi and G1 Climax 31 winner Kazuchika Okada. The winner of that match will defend the gold against the self-proclaimed real IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay on January 5.

Then, Wrestle Kingdom will leave the Tokyo Dome for a NJPW vs. NOAH show from Yokohama on January 8.
