Former WCW World Heavyweight champion Scott Steiner collapsed backstage at an Impact taping on Friday night in Atlanta, but is said to be "doing well".
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful first reported that Steiner collapsed at a TNA-themed taping for Impact. Pro Wrestling Sheet followed up with a report that the 57-year-old was worked on by paramedics, and soon after taken to the emergency room.
Impact performer and creative staffer Tommy Dreamer tweeted, "Im at the hospital right now w/ @ScottDAmore @JoeyRyanOnline. Scott Steiner is doing well. And under great care. Say a prayer for Big Poppa Pump. Holla if ya hear me."
Impact Executive Vice President Scott D'Amore also tweeted, “For all concerned parties @ScottSteiner is OK. His family is grateful for everybody’s concern and support.”
A wrestler for more than 30 years, Steiner debuted for what was then Total Nonstop Action in 2006. During his time with the promotion, Steiner worked as an enforcer for groups such as the Christian Coalition and the Main Event Mafia. Over a handful of tenures, Steiner held the promotion's Tag Team titles twice, once with Booker T, and once with Eli Drake.
