Back in February, it was announced that Scott D’Amore was being let go by TNA Wrestling. The former President of TNA Wrestling was fired and replaced, which led to a controversial storm amongst employees and other talent in the company, leading to backstage meetings, letters, and more. This reportedly came due to differences in agreement over how TNA should be run.

D’Amore led the change in branding from IMPACT back to TNA, and was present for the TNA Hard To Kill event in 2024. Whilst D’Amore’s February firing came as a shock to everyone, it was not a surprise to D’Amore, who has revealed that he knew that this was coming before the Hard To Kill event took place. He opened up about this on Busted Open Radio.

“Here’s your scoop for your headline: I found out that what was happening with me two days before Hard to Kill…I was about to get on a plane, I found out kind of what was in the cards. [Anthem CEO] Len Asper and I had a chat about it. Even though I had seen some signs, it still hit me pretty hard, but I did what professionals do. I locked that in that place in my brain and kept it there and flew to Las Vegas with Tommy [Dreamer] and the rest of the team. I hate when people give me all the credit and I hate when people give me all the blame. TNA succeeded because of the team we were able to assemble. I’m proud to have led that team and I’m proud to have assembled that team.”

D’Amore revealed that in the aftermath he made sure to get Jordynne Grace in the Royal Rumble and tried to find the funds to acquire TNA, which was unsuccessful. He said that being paid to do nothing at home is nice, but he was saddened that he no longer has any control in the company. D’Amore was reported to have a “no-compete clause” clause in place until 2025.
