Sami Zayn recently underwent surgery on a torn rotator cuff, and revealed that his other shoulder also requires surgery - procedures which could leave him on the shelf for the remainder of the year. Speaking to

WWE.com

, he revealed:

'I just underwent surgery for my right shoulder, a.k.a. my good shoulder. So, I’m out for a little while with that. I guess people don’t know about this injury; I’ve been working with it for some time. I don’t know exactly when I tore it. [...] The left one and the right one are both torn. I just underwent surgery on the right one, and then in about six or seven weeks, I’ll be undergoing surgery on the left one, and hopefully I can come back healthy and happy.'

It was recently revealed that Sami has been working while injured for a while now, which explains why his recent feud with Bobby Lashley was so promo-heavy, keeping in-ring action to a minimum. His eventual match with Lashley at Money in the Bank, although not exactly a squash, was relatively short - and featured a fair amount of heelish stalling.

Somewhat shockingly, considering the abruptness of the news, Zayn also revealed that he hopes to be back in time for next year's WrestleMania - which means that he could well be out of action for the remainder of 2018.

'Because of the timeline, I’d love to be in the mix for WrestleMania season; that’s the most exciting time of the year for all of us. I think timeline wise, I should be ready in time for WrestleMania, so fingers crossed.'
