Ronda Rousey Vs. Becky Lynch Reportedly Happening At WWE WrestleMania 35 - Possibly The Main Event
We're not getting it at Survivor Series, but...
Nov 15, 2018
The WWE Universe was left heartbroken on Tuesday as the news broke that this Sunday's Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch match at Survivor Series had been cancelled due to The Irish Lasskicker suffering a "broken face" (a fractured nose in reality) and concussion.
As '
they
' say, however, 'every cloud has a silver lining' and the lining from this horrible situation comes from The Wrestling Observer himself, Dave Meltzer.
In this week's
Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Uncle Dave claims the Lynch/Rousey match - the bout that was all set to steal the show at Survivor Series - will now take place at WrestleMania, possibly in the main event. This decision was apparently made by The Baddest Woman on the Planet and Vince McMahon on Tuesday morning.
Here's the full quote from the Newsletter: "Right now the plan is for Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch to headline WrestleMania.
"Vince McMahon and Rousey decided that the best course of action was to do the match at WrestleMania. Rousey and Lynch immediately went at it hard on social media, even though Rousey’s new opponent on the PPV is Charlotte Flair."
Dave later writes: "There is a very good chance the women will main event WrestleMania for the first time ever this year. Rousey vs. Flair was talked about after last year’s Mania, and at the time there were questions about Rousey headlining such a big show as a single with her level of experience. There is far less doubt about that now."
Interestingly, Meltzer also claims that Becky was diagnosed with a "broken face" on SmackDown Live this week because a "fractured nose and concussion may not sound severe enough to keep someone out of action in the fantasy aspect of the world of wrestling..."
He also mentions there is no way of knowing when Becky will make a return to the ring.
