Ricky Steamboat didn't want to sign with AEW
May 9, 2023
Ricky Steamboat had no interest in a full-time role with All Elite Wrestling.
The WWE Hall of Famer has revealed that he was offered a producer role in AEW but he turned down the opportunity as he doesn't want to be on the road at this point in his life.
"Believe this or not, I was already asked to come on board [with AEW] in the capacity of [a road agent]. No reflection on them, great company and everything. And don't get me wrong, the pay was going to be great but I'm at a point in my life where I'm trying to get off the road," Steamboat said on Captain's Corner.
Steamboat previously appeared in All Elite Wrestling as a guest timekeeper for their special House of the Dragon episode of Dynamite on August 17, 2022.
While he didn't decide to join AEW, The Dragon was active in the ring in 2022, having his final match in November when he teamed with FTR to defeat Nick Aldis, Jay Lethal, and Brock Anderson. AEW CEO Tony Khan later stated that he would love to bring Steamboat back to the promotion.
