The aftermath of a botch at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam continues to linger.

Jon Moxley defended the AEW International Championship against Rey Fenix at Dynamite Grand Slam and Moxley suffered a minor concussion in the opening moments of the match following a dive from Rey Fenix to the outside. Moxley sustained the injury after his head hit the ringside mat.

Moxley continued with the match but his condition worsened as the bout continued to the point the Blackpool Combat Club member called an audible for Rey Fenix to win the title. This prompted Rey Fenix to connect with a Fire Thunder Driver for what was supposed to be the finish but Rick Knox, having been told Moxley would be winning, held up before the three count. This prompted Jon Moxley to shout expletives at Knox and Fenix ended up winning following a second Fire Thunder Driver.

Rick Knox garnered heat in All Elite Wrestling following the botch, with it being noted that Knox is liked in AEW but Dynamite Grand Slam wasn't the first time his judgment had been called into question.

Knox wasn't booked on the September 27 edition of AEW Dynamite and Fightful Select has reported this "was not an accident." However, the extent of Knox not being used on Dynamite was not revealed.

The referee was back in an AEW ring at WrestleDream as he officiated the Zero Hour match of Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty, Mercedes Martinez, & Diamante vs. Keith Lee, Satoshi Kojima, Athena, and Billie Starkz. Knox was not used during the main WrestleDream card.
