The build for the inaugural AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV has begun, with the likes of Hiroshi Tanahashi and The United Empire making their presence felt on AEW television.

However, with Forbidden Door a little over two weeks away there are still several matches to be officially sanctioned for the PPV, and writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has reported how the show could map out:

“For Forbidden Door, the AEW title match will headline. There will also be an IWGP title match The Kazuchika Okada vs. Jay White winner looks to be defending in a three-way with Adam Page and Adam Cole. Jeff Cobb & Great O’Khan aren’t IWGP tag champions, but FTR has said they want those titles and Cobb & O’Khan are going for champions Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens on June 12. Obviously Will Ospreay and Aussie Open will fit into the show in some form.”

Originally the AEW Championship match was set to see Champion CM Punk defend against Tanahashi, but an injury to Punk means that Jon Moxley will face either Tanahashi or Hirooki Goto for the interim AEW World Championship.

AEW also announced that a four-way bout will take place at Forbidden Door with PAC taking on Miro/Ethan Page, Penta Oscuro/Malakai Black, and a representative of NJPW to crown the first ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion.
