They've had less power for a while

A recent report noted Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson's power within All Elite Wrestling had been curtailed and they were executive vice presidents "in name only".

The likes of The Young Bucks were given creative control and carte blanche to hire whoever they wanted when AEW was founded alongside Tony Khan. Khan has since taken full control of the company, though, and the EVPs no longer have a final say on creative or talent hiring.

The Elite and Rhodes do remain involved behind the scenes in other capacities.

In an update, Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reported the EVPs had their power reduced within AEW following the December 18, 2019, episode of Dynamite, when the show was beaten in the key 18-49 demographic for the first time by WWE NXT.

"It is a story from December 18, [2019], from almost two years ago when Tony Khan took the book over. Tony Khan has always been the booker. He discusses this stuff with all of the EVPs. They are all in the discussions but Tony makes the final call. They all have input and when it comes to their own stuff as far as getting to the final destination if it's a Young Bucks or Kenny Omega angle they have a lot of input into the angle, their own interviews, things like that... Chris Jericho does, Jon Moxley does, I'm sure Bryan Danielson does. All the top guys are going to," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer also noted that none of the EVPs have lost any power recently.
