Report: Potential Major Spoiler For AEW Blood & Guts

All Elite Wrestling are gearing up for the third Blood & Guts match in company history on July 19, with The Elite and Blackpool Combat Club set to go to war in the double ring cage match.

Graphics for the upcoming match show it is to be five vs. five, with both the BCC and The Elite set to scout a fifth member to join their teams. According to a report from Fightful Select, AEW have made approaches to bring in Kota Ibushi for the match, with the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion long rumoured to be the Elite’s fifth man.

The report claims that conversations between AEW and Ibushi have taken place, with Ibushi’s management scaling back media obligations for the ‘Golden Star’, citing that Ibushi’s schedule is set to pick up ‘in the near future’. AEW talents spoke to by Fightful reportedly believe that Ibushi is set to join the company in some capacity.

Ibushi spent the best part of 17 months on the shelf, having picked up a severe shoulder injury in October 2021 that kept him out of action until March 2023. Since wrestling two comeback matches for GCW in March, Ibushi has not wrestled since, with reports suggesting that Ibushi is focusing on opening his own wrestling school.
