Report: Colt Cabana Not Scheduled For Future AEW Appearances
Backstage news on Colt Cabana's AEW return
Nov 4, 2022
Don't expect to see Colt Cabana on future episodes of AEW TV.
'Boom Boom' returned to All Elite Wrestling on Wednesday's edition of Dynamite, being revealed as the mystery former ROH champion before he challenged Chris Jericho for the ROH World Title. Cabana made his return as he tried to hold back tears and the fans in attendance serenaded him with 'welcome back' chants. He would ultimately lose to Jericho following a Codebreaker.
While some hoped Cabana would be sticking around in AEW, that won't be the case according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, who reported that the two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion's appearance is currently planned to just be a one-off. His return was simply done so Chris Jericho could beat another ROH talent on his quest to be the greatest ROH World Champion of all time.
Cabana remains a part of the Ring of Honor roster, though, and he will seemingly be a regular performer if/when the promotion secures a TV deal. The next ROH pay-per-view will be Final Battle on December 10.
Some speculation suggested that Colt Cabana's return was done to 'tweak' CM Punk. Cabana and Punk have long had issues and speculation earlier this year noted Punk was involved in Tony Khan's initial plans to not renew Cabana's contract and his subsequent banishment to Ring of Honor. Both Khan and Punk denied that was the case but Cabana resurfacing on AEW TV as Punk appears to be done with the company only fuelled further talk this week.
