All Elite Wrestling’s announcement of their upcoming new Saturday night Collision show was revealed against a backdrop of uncertainty due to ongoing saga that was CM Punk’s status with the company.

Reports at the time of Collision’s announcement suggested Punk had disagreements with AEW over the status of Ace Steel, with the AEW producer and Punk’s trainer fired due to his part in the now infamous All Out locker-room brawl.

It emerged that Steel had been rehired by AEW ‘several months ago’ and was working remotely as part of AEW’s creative team. A new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that both Punk and Ace Steel will be ‘heavily involved’ with Collision’s creative. Meltzer added that this will likely centre around Punk’s on-screen angles and feuds, with the former AEW World Champion set to be the featured performer of the new show.

Ace Steel was originally hired by AEW in early 2022, after being released from his WWE contract in January 2022.
