Report: AEW TNT Title Won't Be Renamed

Alongside the announcement of the second TV show 'AEW: Rampage', All Elite Wrestling revealed their TV programming will move to TBS in 2022. Dynamite has aired on TNT since the series' premiere but AEW will receive an "eight-figure payday" as part of the switch. Some wrestling will remain on TNT and four new annual specials will air on the station.

With the move to TBS, some wondered if the TNT Championship would be renamed. That won't be the case, though, according to Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer and AEW's second singles title won't be changing.

"TNT Title is staying, so it will be named the TNT Title even on TBS. Obviously, things can change but I was told, yeah, they're gonna keep the TNT Championship," Meltzer said.

The TNT Championship was created ahead of Double Or Nothing 2020 and Cody Rhodes was crowned the inaugural champion at the pay-per-view. Other former champions include Darby Allin and the late Brodie Lee. Miro is the current titleholder, having defeated Darby for the gold on May 12, 2021.
