All Elite Wrestling were forced to scrap plans to begin a new feud on Wednesday's edition of AEW Dynamite.

Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida on Wednesday, devastating Fort Myers and other coastal areas. Over two million homes have been left without power due to the extreme winds and storm surges.

AEW President Tony Khan announced because of the storm that it was voluntary for talent to attend AEW's TV tapings in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Wednesday and it was previously noted that Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe were absent from the shows as a result.

Their absences ultimately affected AEW's booking for the tapings and Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that plans to start a Samoa Joe and Wardlow vs. Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee programme were postponed. Lee was still on Dynamite in a backstage confrontation with The Acclaimed to set up a potential rubber match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

Wardlow and Samoa Joe are both singles champions on AEW TV but they have been teaming in recent weeks, defeating Tony Nese and Josh Woods at Rampage Grand Slam.

Jake Hager was also absent from Dynamite because of Hurricane Ian, Meltzer reported. The Jericho Appreciation Society were still on the show for Chris Jericho's championship celebration and it was reportedly Hager's idea for the faction to wear purple suits. Chris Jericho was then in action in the main event, successfully defending the ROH World Title against Bandido.
