Since the debut of Dynamite, AEW’s main commentary team has largely stayed the same, with the trio of Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Jim Ross calling the action.

The team has changed recently by adding Taz to the mix on a permanent basis - with Schiavone and Ross working half a broadcast each - but it seems AEW at one point held talks with former WWE and NXT commentator Mauro Ranallo, with Dave Meltzer reporting so on Twitter, after commenting how AEW President Tony Khan once reached out to former WCW and TNA commentator Mike Tenay before AEW’s formation.

As for what role Ranallo would have played in AEW or indeed when the alleged talks occurred are anyone’s guess, with Ranallo largely staying away from pro-wrestling since leaving WWE in 2020, save for an appearance in IMPACT Wrestling where he called the Rebellion 2021 main event between Rich Swann and Kenny Omega.

AEW also use Mark Henry, Chris Jericho, Ricky Starks, and Paul Wight as regular commentators across their TV and YouTube shows, whilst Tony Khan looks set to stick with the ROH broadcast team of Ian Ricabboni and Caprice Coleman as the ‘new era of honor’ gets underway, with the pair calling ROH action during AEW broadcasts, as well as working the Supercard of Honor 2022 PPV, and assumedly working the upcoming Death Before Dishonor 2022 PPV.
