Some fans seemingly forgot AEW Dynamite is a TV show on Wednesday.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman cut a promo on Dynamite following his win over Konosuke Takeshita in which the AEW World Champion detailed why he is a "scumbag." MJF recalled going for a joyride at his junior prom with a girl for legal reasons known as Liv. Friedman noted the girl was perfect and he drove through the rain as she performed an intimate act on him. After she was finished, MJF put "the pedal to the metal" and ended up crashing the car into a telephone pole while driving at 90 mph. The AEW World Champion was concussed and upon realising 'Liv' was unconscious but breathing, he decided to switch seats with her as the police were about to arrive to give the impression that she was the one driving.

While most understood the promo was part of MJF's feud with Bryan Danielson and in keeping with his character, some fans called the Nassau County Police Department, according to Bryan Alvarez.

"100% they got a bunch of phone calls. That's not a joke. A bunch of fans legitimately called the Nassau Police Department to report MJF," Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live.

ESPN's Marc Raimondi also noted that while hundreds of fans don't appear to have called the police, several told him "there is truth" to the story.

"Not to break kayfabe, but I contacted the Nassau County (N.Y.) PD and reports that hundreds of people have called about the MJF promo from AEW don't seem to be true. The public information officer didn't know what I was talking about and said such calls would go to his office. I've heard from several people who have said there is truth to the original story. Either way, it was a phenomenal, sinister, disturbing promo by MJF and the question of whether something is real or not is what wrestling is all about. So, huge win for him and AEW," Raimondi tweeted.

Friedman is set to defend the AEW World Championship in a 60-minute Iron Man Match against Bryan Danielson at Revolution on March 5.
