Report: AEW Considering Sept 29 Debut For Bray Wyatt If He Signs
Could Wyatt be heading to AEW?
Sep 13, 2021
There is much speculation surrounding the former Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) with reports speculating that his next move could be to AEW or IMPACT Wrestling.
Now, in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has suggested that if Rotunda were to sign with AEW, then he could debut for the company on the September 29 edition of Dynamite, a show set for Rochester, NY, the home of Rotunda’s former tag partner the late Brodie Lee.
However, there is still uncertainty as to the nature of Rotunda’s no-compete clause. If he is on the standard 90-day clause, then this wouldn’t expire until late October, due to his release from WWE occurring on July 31 2021.
There have been rumours about WWE granting wrestlers an early out of their no-compete clauses on a case-by-case basis, but it would seem unlikely that WWE would grant this for someone looking to join AEW. There is the slim possibility that Wyatt’s clause might not be a 90-day one, after what we saw with Malakai Black’s exit from WWE and the revelation that his NXT 30-day no-compete clause was never updated when he signed a main roster contract.
