Ace Steel's short stint in All Elite Wrestling came to an end on Tuesday as the backstage producer was released by the promotion.

Steel's release came after his involvement in a backstage fight with CM Punk, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega following Punk's post-All Out media scrum. Steel was alleged to have bit Kenny Omega and thrown a chair that rocked Nick Jackson during the fight. All five men were suspended by the promotion and a third party is still investigating what exactly happened.

The producer being let go did not come as a shock within AEW and reports noted the unanimous opinion within the company was that Steel would be released because of his involvement in the backstage fight. Almost everyone in the locker room also believed they were done working with Steel as early as the post-All Out TV tapings a few days after September 4. Even those who were on good terms with Steel saw no way back for him after he bit Kenny Omega.

The expectation of his release reportedly did not extend to Steel himself, though. The former ROH talent tweeted a clip of 'Freedom' from The Blues Brothers on his private Twitter account last week which a user on the F4W Online Board suggested was Steel hinting that he was being let go. That was not the case, though, according to Dave Meltzer who noted that Steel actually thought he would be remaining with AEW and was surprised by his release.

"Nope, he actually thought the opposite and was surprised," Meltzer wrote.

If Ace Steel will join another promotion remains to be seen. Prior to joining AEW, he spent three years with WWE working backstage in NXT.
