Since Chris Jericho defeated Hangman Page to become the inaugural AEW World Champion at All Out 2019, the AEW World Championship has been defended on 42 occasions, not including Jon Moxley's Interim AEW World Title reign in the summer of 2022 while CM Punk was out of action due to injury.
The title has been defended in a number of widely praised matches by the champions in Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, CM Punk, and MJF, with the most recent defence taking place on the July 1 edition of AEW Collision in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
