Original Plans For AEW TNT Championship Switch Reportedly Revealed
The TNT Title match had been tentatively planned for another date
Sep 30, 2021
The September 29 episode of AEW Dynamite culminated in a huge Title switch as Sammy Guevara defeated Miro to become the new TNT Champion.
The Spanish God defeated Miro to claim the Championship on this week's show but Fightful Select are reporting that the original plan wasn't for the title change to occur at the show in Rochester, New York.
The report indicates that the decision to switch the Title from Miro to Guevara was made around the All Out 2021 pay-per-view, at the start of September, while there were tentative plans for the match to take place during AEW Dynamite Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday 22 September.
However, those plans were then altered to feature the TNT Title match as the main event of the AEW Dynamite this week instead.
With the September 29 show being dedicated to Brodie Lee, who was from Rochester, it is possible that the decision was made to heavily feature the TNT Title on this show based on his illustrious association with the Championship.
