The final of the New Japan Cup 2020 is set as New Japan Pro-Wrestling hosted day eight of the tournament earlier today. In the semi-finals, three members of Los Ingobernables de Japon looked to go one step closer to facing their leader Tetsuya Naito at Dominion as Hiromu Takahashi clashed with Kazuchika Okada while EVIL and SANADA went one on one.

Before the semi-final matchups, New Japan advanced some storylines ahead of the pay-per-view on July 12 as Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr. brawled around the arena with IWGP Tag Team Champions Kota Ibushi and Hiroshi Tanahashi during their eight-man tag team match. SHO also Speared Shingo Takagi after their six-man tag team bout. SHO vanquished The Dragon in the first round of the tournament back on June 22.

In the final two matches, EVIL and SANADA battled back and forth but The King Of Darkness emerged victorious after hitting his tag team partner with Everything Is EVIL. The main event then ended in a referee stoppage as Takahashi and Okada looked to destroy one another. While some hoped the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion would make it to the final, The Rainmaker advanced instead after connecting with a flurry of Rainmakers and locking in the Cobra Clutch.

Check out the results below: • Minoru Suzuki, Zack Sabre Jr., Taichi & El Desperado def. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kota Ibushi, Yuji Nagata & Gabriel Kidd • SHO, Tomohiro Ishii & Hirooki Goto def. BUSHI, Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito • EVIL def. SANADA • Kazuchika Okada def. Hiromu Takahashi
