NJPW held their Resurgence event last night on May 11 in the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. It was a notable night which saw new champions crowned, new feuds started, and even some surprising cameos too.
In the main event of the evening, Jon Moxley successfully defended his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against his own young lion Shota Umino, though after the match the pairing of EVIL and Ren Narita once again attacked the champion. This time around, EVIL would spray paint and deface the world title.
Elsewhere, Gabe Kidd picked up a big win as he defeated Eddie Kingston in a No Ropes Last Man Standing match for the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship in a match filled with hatred, blood, a chain, barbed wire chair, ring rope hooks, and ladder, and more plunder as they beat the hell out of each other. Kidd won with a brutal suplex through a table, which sent Kingston into the barricade. After the match, Jack Perry and The Young Bucks ambushed Kingston and attacked him, continuing from their AEW feud.
