NJPW held their Destruction In Kobe 2024 PPV today, hosting the show from the Kobe World Hall in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan. It was an event which laid the path towards a very big night in a couple of weeks time at the King Of Pro Wrestling event where G1 Climax winner Zack Sabre Jr. will challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. The show saw five titles up for grabs, along with several other matches too.

The main event of the evening had Tetsuya Naito defending his IWGP World Heavyweight Title against Great-O-Khan. It began slowly, feeling each other out with transitions, holds, and more, though Khan got an opportunity to hit some big moves to gain the advantage. Naito turned things around briefly with a low dropkick, but Khan kept up his dominance for some time. Eventually, Naito hit a Tornado DDT and neck breaker on the outside, but failed to put Khan out with a Puma Blanca. After a few attempts, Naito finally downed Khan with a Destino, retaining his gold. Following the match, Zack Sabre Jr. emerged to hype up his match with Naito next month.

A title change took place as Shingo Takagi defeated Henare to be crowned as the new NEVER Openweight Champion. The two physical competitors clashed, sharing clubbing moves, headbutts, and more powerful interactions. Henare gained control throughout, nailing kick after kick, before nearly getting the job done with a Full-Nelson. Takagi fought back with a Dragon Suplex, Pumping Bombers, and The Last Of The Dragon to put down Henare in a very hard-fought battle.

There was a notable return on this show too, which came as Hiroshi Tanahashi, Boltin Oleg & Toru Yano successfully defended their NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Titles against The House Of Torture, overcoming all the usual interference from the heel faction. Ren Narita tried to interfere, only for El Phantasmo to return and help the babyfaces, shaking hands with Tanahashi afterwards, signalling a new alliance between the pair.
