Nick Jackson wanted PWG, Super Dragon had other ideas

Simply put, without Pro Wrestling Guerrilla there’d likely be no All Elite Wrestling, with the infamous Californian indie federation guiding and promoting a whole generation of talent, including The Young Bucks.
The Bucks were mainstays in PWG before helping form AEW, and during a conversation with Swerve Strickland and Monteasy on the Swerve City podcast, Nick Jackson revealed that he tried to buy PWG, but was shut down by PWG head Super Dragon:
“I like to stay entertained and busy. For me, it'd be hard,” said Nick when talking about his plans when he eventually retires. “I fantasise about running this small Indie one day. How fun would that be? Buy PWG from Super Dragon. I tried to buy PWG once, he didn't go for the offer. One day, Super Dragon.”
Matt Jackson added that Nick lowballed Super Dragon, before adding that the cult icon is still in contact with the brothers:
“We heard from him six or seven months ago,” revealed Matt Jackson. “We did the Forum show, a ladder match [January 11 episode of AEW Dynamite], that night he sent me a text message, 'Yo, great match.' 'You watched it?' 'I was there.' 'Excuse me?' 'It's crazy that you're still tearing the house down after all these years.' 'You have no idea how much that means.' I looked up to Super Dragon. He's this weird immortal wrestling God.”
Originally founded by Super Dragon, Excalibur, Disco Machine, Joey Ryan, Scott Lost, and Top Gun Talwar, the company is now run by Super Dragon and Excalibur, putting on a handful of shows every year in Los Angeles’ Globe Theater that feature current AEW stars.
Other AEW stars who were heavily featured in PWG include Scorpio Sky, Adam Cole, PAC, Evil Uno, Roderick Strong, and Colt Cabana, whilst PWG alums Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn paid homage to Super Dragon and PWG’s influence on their careers during their WrestleMania 39 main event match earlier in 2023.
