Two new matches have been made official for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling's January 4 show from the Tokyo Dome will once again feature Hiroshi Tanahashi following the announcement The Ace will challenge Zack Sabre Jr. for the NJPW World TV Championship. ZSJ has held the title since becoming the inaugural champion at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and a match with Tanahashi was set up after the eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion pinned Sabre at Power Struggle when TMDK challenged for the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Titles.

The NEVER Openweight Title will also be on the line at Wrestle Kingdom in a rematch between Shingo Takagi and Tama Tonga. Shingo defeated Tonga for the title at Fighting Spirit Unleashed on October 28 and a second match for the belt was set up at Lonestar Shootout over the weekend following Takagi's successful title defence against Trent Beretta after Tonga confronted Shingo.

Other matches announced for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 include SANADA vs. Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship and Kazuchika Okada vs. Bryan Danielson II.
