Andrade el Idolo recently exited All Elite Wrestling after the expiration of his deal, with Andrade losing to Miro at Worlds End on December 30 prior to his exit.

Andrade’s exit was of little surprise to many, with the former WWE NXT Champion allegedly trying to get himself fired in 2021 to get out of his deal. A new report from Fightful Select has shed a little more light on his exit, with the process reported as ‘frustrating’.

Originally signing with AEW on a two year deal in June 2021, Andrade’s contract was extended due to missed time through injury. Whilst some claim that Andrade spoke of re-signing ahead of his contract expiring in December, his decision changed as the expiration date approached, with Andrade telling many that he was heading back to WWE.

The former Los Ingobernables leader made his official decision days before Worlds End, and although AEW President Tony Khan left the door open for Andrade to return those close to the situation described the process as ‘frustrating’.

No official deal between WWE and Andrade has been made public, but it is widely expected he will appear back in the company soon. Several in AEW expected the second generation star to be back on WWE TV in the days after Worlds End, with Andrade’s wife Charlotte Flair allegedly pushing for him to rejoin the ‘sports entertainment’ powerhouse.
