Jon Moxley Returning To Japan For NJPW Dominion
Jon Moxley will soon be back in Japan for NJPW
May 3, 2023
Jon Moxley is heading back to Japan.
Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Tomohiro Ishii secured gold today as they defeated Ren Narita, Minoru Suzuki, and El Desperado to capture the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships at Wrestling Dontaku. Okada scored the win for his team following a Rainmaker to Kazuchika Okada.
Okada, Tanahashi, and Ishii were only able to briefly celebrate their win, though, as the trio was interrupted by Shota Umino, who turned everyone's attention to the big screen. Jon Moxley then appeared on a motorcycle and announced that he would be returning to Japan at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Dominion event on June 4. It was not directly confirmed but Moxley hinted he will team with Shota Umino and a third partner to take on Okada, Tanahashi, and Ishii for the NEVER belts.
Following the end of Moxley's promo, Okada had a simple message for Umino, giving him the middle finger and shouting, "f*ck you!"
Okada and Moxley do have history in New Japan and the two stars have teamed together before, most recently as part of a multi-man match at the Night Before Rumble on 44th Street in October 2022 in New York City.
Moxley made his NJPW debut back in 2019. He has not competed in Japan since February 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but he has sporadically wrestled at the promotion's events in the United States. He will make his NJPW return at Resurgence on May 21 in Long Beach, California.
