AEW Dynamite Grand Slam title change happened due to Jon Moxley concussion

All Elite Wrestling returned to New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium for Dynamite Grand Slam III, a night that saw Rey Fenix shockingly defeat Jon Moxley for the AEW International Championship.
Fenix got the win after two Fire Thunder Piledrivers, with referee Rick Knox initially not counting the three on the first attempt. The win seemingly came out of nowhere as Moxley only won the title at All Out three weeks ago, with fans theorising that Mox picked up an injury during the match.
In an update from Dave Meltzer on Twitter/X, Moxley is believed to have suffered a ‘minor concussion’ during the bout, and called an audible to facilitate the title change. It has not been revealed exactly what caused Moxley’s concussion, but a crowd dive from Fenix may have caused the injury, with Moxley’s head appearing to hit the concrete after taking the move. Mox may have also collided with the mat during one of the piledriver attempts that finished the match.
F4WOnline’s Bryan Alvarez later reported that Moxley is ‘ok’, and the initial plan was for the former AEW World Champion to defeat Fenix and retain the title.
