AEW released a snippet from their upcoming episode of "Road To...", which comes out in full on Monday. In the video, Cody Rhodes listens to an answering machine message from his older brother Dustin, who says he will retire if he does not win his next match.
The 51-year-old, 32-year veteran is competing in the tournament to determine the first-ever TNT champion, and wrestles Kip Sabian in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
"My soul-searching has led me to this - this TNT tournament is the most important thing I've done since wrestling you at Double or Nothing," Rhodes said. "Hands down."
After stating how important it would be for him to become the first TNT champion, Rhodes went on to say of Sabian, "If I cannot beat that son of a bitch, I will retire."
The winner of the match goes on to face Lance Archer in the semis. Also on Wednesday's Dynamite is the other remaining quarterfinal match, pitting Darby Allin against Sammy Guevara. That winner advances to the semifinals to face Cody.
