Regardless, Rhodes’ Tweet caught on with fellow professionals across the industry, with Kevin Owens also tweeting his support: “There’s nobody like Terry. He deserves every ounce of good energy anyone can send his way.”
The 76-year-old Funk is a former NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion, ECW World Heavyweight Champion, and was one of the first gaijin (non-Japanese wrestlers) to become a major star in Japan in the 1970s alongside brother Dory Funk Jr.
Notorious for retiring and un-retiring multiple times since his debut in 1965, Funk had his last match in 2017.
