Dave Meltzer of the

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

is reporting that Daniel Bryan has finally put pen to paper on a new WWE contract, with an official announcement set to made by the company in the coming days.

In recent times, Meltzer has been alluding to something "really weird" holding up negotiations between Bryan and WWE, but with this latest update, it seems those particular creases in the proverbial shirt have been ironed out. Uncle Dave hasn't been able to disclose the length of the new deal, or any financial details surrounding it, but he has noted that isn't wasn't an easy call for the leader of the Yes Movement to make - with seemingly every corner of the wrestling world having something for him if he were to depart.

Bryan's future with WWE has been up in the air until very recently, despite his return to the ring. It seemed, from the outside looking in at least, that the lure of calling his own shots and a catalogue of potential dream matches around the independent world could be enough to lure him away. However, those dream matches will have to be put on hold for now.

Bryan, of course, came out of retirement earlier this year after being told his career was done. Since then, he's defeated Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania alongside Shane McMahon, toppled a giant in Big Cass, reunited with Kane for a brief Team Hell No run, lost to The Miz in what is surely the first of a series of matches between the blood-feuding pair, and is now preparing for a mixed tag match at Hell in a Cell on 16 September alongside wife Brie Bella, against the A-Lister and his significant other, Maryse.
