CM Punk will wrestle his first match on television in over seven years when he competes on a special-edition of AEW Rampage next week.

The Second City Saviour has been confirmed as facing Powerhouse Hobbs on the September 24 AEW Rampage: Grand Slam - a show which will run as a two-hour special.

Punk was working on commentary for the September 15 episode of AEW Dynamite, when he was attacked by Team Taz members Hobbs and Hook. Hook would choke out Punk before Hobbs slammed the recently-returned wrestler onto the announcer's table.

Punk made a return to professional wrestling for the first time since 2014 when he joined All Elite Wrestling at AEW Rampage: The First Dance in August. The 42-year-old competed in his first match back, against Darby Allin, at All Out 2021.

Also confirmed for AEW Rampage: Grand Slam next week is a six-man tag-team bout that will put The SuperKliq - Adam Cole and The Young Bucks - up against Christian Cage, Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy.
