Chris Romero, better known by his professional wrestling name Chris Youngblood, has sadly passed away at the age of 55.

The news was confirmed by Ricky Romero Jr in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

The son of Ricky Romero, a well-known wrestler in Amarillo, Texas, Chris was one of three sons to the performer who ended up following their father into the world of professional wrestling. His brother Jay would form a successful tag-team with Ricky Steamboat.

In 1985, Chris entered professional wrestling and formed a tag-team with brother Mark. The duo competed in All Japan Pro Wrestling's Real World Tag League in 1987 and continued to tour with the promotion regularly through to 1996.

The duo won the World Wrestling Council Tag Team Championships on six different occasions and were perhaps best known for their brief stint in WCW as The Renegade Warriors in the early 1990s.

Chris would later wrestle as a singles competitor in Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling before opening the Romero Academy of Wrestling school in 2007. He still occasionally worked the independence and tagged again with his brother in Puerto Rico in 2019.

Everyone at Cultaholic sends their deepest sympathies and best wishes to the friends, family and loved ones of Chris Romero at this sad time.
